Is This Native Enough For You?
This piece is an exploration of my identity as a mixed-race native woman as well as the concept of blood quantum. each flower holds a meaning, as well as drawing on the proverb "There are two wolves inside of you". this is a piece of self-acceptance of "both halves" of my identity.
This is not an official collab with the National Congress of American Indians.
A 24inX36in canvas was then scanned to add 2in for text, made with acrylic paint, a gold leaf paint pen, and 11/0 seed beads to make the beaded appliques. I then sewed onto the canvas.
